We are pleased to inform you that after 23 days since the voting process began, The World’s 100 Best Clubs 2022 list has already reached 100,000 votes.

As you know, there are a total of 260 clubs nominees from 44 different countries competing for a place on the distinguished list.

The countries leading the list are Spain with 58 and the United States of America with 44 nominations. Other countries with nominated clubs include Italy with 12 nominations, Canada and Colombia with 11 nominations, and the United Kingdom with 10. Together these countries are leading the way in nominations for The World’s Best Club 2022 list. In all, the 260 establishments have been nominated from a diverse list of countries like France, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Greece, the UAE, Argentina, Singapore, China, and Japan, among others.

Voting extended to November 1st

The online public voting period began on September 1 and has been extended until November 1, 2022. Anyone can vote for any of the nominated venues through the following link: https://bit.ly /3Ra0emA which will accept only one vote per person.

The list to be made public on November 30th

The list of "The World's 100 Best Clubs 2022" will be released on November 30th at the 8th International Nightlife Congress and 7th Golden Moon Awards Gala to be held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Tenerife, Spain.

How the vote will be determined

As we have already informed you, the public vote will represent 70% of the final tally. The remaining 30% will be determined by a panel of experts who will weigh a host of factors including the 2022 artistic programming of the clubs, complementary security measures, VIP area, availability and online reservation capacity, and quality of service. Other matters to be taken into account will be the activity on social media, national or international awards, distinctions achieved, acoustic quality, soundproofing, and commitment to the UN's sustainable development goals. The professional jury scoring system will be ranked by points awarded to each of the items that will be valued and added to the sum of the public voting.

Today the voting period for The World’s 100 Best Clubs 2022 list opens where a total of 260 clubs have been nominated. The countries leading the list are Spain with 58 and the United States of America with 44 nominations. Other countries with nominated clubs include Italy with 12 nominations, Canada and Colombia with 11 nominations, and the United Kingdom with 10. Together these countries are leading the way in nominations for The World’s Best Club 2022 list. Regarding the most famous international nightlife spots, Ibiza, takes the lead with 15 nominated venues- Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, Blue Marlin Ibiza, Amnesia, Pacha Ibiza, DC-10, Ocean Beach, Ibiza Rocks, Octan, Café Mambo Ibiza, Itaca, Lío, Nassau Beach Club, Linekers, and Club Chinois- to the list. Las Vegas presents 12 nominations of its own- TAO, Omnia, Marquee, Zouk, Drai’s, Hakkasan, Encore Beach Club, XS, Jewel, Wet Republic, the Light, and TAO Beach Club- so the race is a close one. Another party capital aiming for the top is Barcelona also with 10 nominated venues. For each of the contending clubs the goal is the same: when the winners are announced, either crack The World’s 100 Best Clubs 2022 list or take home The World’s Best Club 2022 title.

The prestigious list returns after a two-year break

As you know, after two years without releasing the list of The World’s 100 Best Clubs due to the Covid pandemic, the list has since made a comeback. Said list will be assessing the nominated venues trajectory during this year season.

At the last gala of The Golden Moon Awards organized by the International Nightlife Association and held in Bogotá (Colombia) on November 13, 2019, the title of The World’s Best Club 2019 went to Hï Ibiza while Cavalli Club Dubai, which unfortunately closed due to the pandemic, came in second place. We must regret that another fifteen of the best nightlife venues in the world that made it to the list of The World’s 100 Best Clubs 2019, including the emblematic Heart Ibiza, founded in 2015 by the Adrià brothers and the founder of Cirque du Soleil Guy Laliberté- closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ibiza's insular character has nurtured and protected a rich heritage of traditions that is very appealing to sensitive and curious travelers.

The Ibiza countryside accumulates centuries of tradition in its houses, churches, dry stone walls, wells, and fountains. Throughout the island, there are excellent examples of traditional country houses, with their whitewashed facades, their cubic shapes, their small windows... To discover the architecture that gave Ibiza the nickname of White Island, it is enough to go into the secondary roads of the interior, where they appear in the middle of a farm field or converted into cozy restaurants.

Also the traditional dance of Ibiza, the "Ball Pagès", stands out for being a folkloric representation without equality in the Mediterranean.

In this ancestral courtship dance, the women move hieratically tracing curves while the man makes constant jumps around them while playing large castanets called castanyoles. In addition to the dance, you have to pay attention to the traditional costumes, the goldsmith work of the enterprises, true works of art in silver, gold, and coral that adorn the chest of the women; and the instrumental group that accompanies the dancers, made up of the drum, the flute, and the espasí, a unique metallic percussion musical instrument that looks like a sword.

Knowing how Ibizans live their traditions is very simple: just join the patron saint festivities of the towns or the more than twenty popular ballades that are celebrated in wells and fountains from April to October. On all these occasions, the performance of the ball pagès is followed by a tasting of traditional sweets (orelletes and bunyols). Apart from these festive events, visitors can also enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of the ball pagès in the performances scheduled during the summer season in the courtyard of the church of Sant Miquel and in the port of Ibiza.

The Balearic Government and the Asociación Ocio de Ibiza (AOI), adhered to the International Nightlife Association have agreed on the conditions to hold a pilot event at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza. The event on 25 June will be the hotel’s renowned Children of the 80's party and is part of a test to stimulate the leisure and entertainment sector on the island.

The conditions require a maximum capacity of 2,000 people, although to ensure the smooth running of the event, it has been decided to reduce the capacity to 1,500 and the wearing of masks will be compulsory at all times. The venue will have an enclosed dance area for 500 people and drinks must always be consumed at a table. The event will start at 7 p.m. and end at midnight.

In gratitude for their work in the hardest phase of the pandemic, Ocio de Ibiza – the association that represents Ibiza’s main nightclubs, beach clubs, and party brands - will invite the island’s frontline workers from various industries to attend the event. The invitation will be nominal, personal and, non-transferable.

"They deserve it. It's for them. We owe them a lot," stresses the Manager of the Ibiza Leisure Association and President of the International Nightlife Association, José Luis Benítez, who adds that entry to the event will be totally free.

“There is huge interest in this event and so the capacity will be completely fulfilled by the island’s essential workers. We’re sure that the public will understand. We have sent invitations to the majority of workplaces, such as the hospital and members of State Security Forces and Corps, among others. If there are places available, we will launch a website where more essential workers from other companies can sign up for. We know that there have been many groups that have been on the front line during the pandemic. I can only say to the general public that Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza will hold more events when they are authorized this season", explains Benítez.

Operational and hygiene measures for the event

When registering to attend the event, all attendees must include their personal details and state whether they have been vaccinated (with one or two doses), or have recovered from coronavirus. They will also be required to have a negative PCR test performed 72 hours before the event. Those who do not meet any of these three requirements must undergo an antigen test hours before the start of the event at a designated location in the vicinity of the venue. A team from Emergency Staff, a company specializing in health and safety in recreational environments, will carry out the tests. Once the registration has been formalized, a ticket with a QR code will be generated which will be used to access the event.

Access to the site will be staggered to avoid crowding. The entrance ticket will indicate the time they can access the event. Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza will have sufficient security personnel to ensure compliance with security protocols and, at the same time, to avoid large groups forming.

Although the risk of contagion is lower in open spaces, all hygiene measures agreed with the Balearic Government will be implemented, such as temperature checks, the installation of hydroalcoholic gel dispensers, as well as the obligation to wear a mask that can only be removed for drinking. In this sense, a specific area will be set up so that the public can buy drinks at the bar without crowding and access a designated area with tables where they can drink.

A dance area will also be set up with a capacity for 500 people, and with different access and exit points where drinking will not be allowed. This area will also be directly controlled by security guards. Masks will be available at the bar for customers who request them, and the toilets will be continuously cleaned. Likewise, the collaboration of law enforcement has been requested to avoid crowds both at the beginning and at the end of the event outside the venue.

"The test event aims to show that leisure activity and events can resume with the application of preventive measures. It is a priority to demonstrate that a regulated events venue offers more health and safety guarantees than illegal parties without any measures in place. We must prepare for the return of events in order to stop uncontrolled and unregulated leisure activity", says the Manager of the Ibiza Leisure Association.

Similarly, Joaquim Boadas, Secretary General of the International Nightlife Association and Spain Nightlife has stated, “The different pilot events that have been carried out these past months such as the one in Sala Apolo Barcelona, Liverpool, and Amsterdam, have proven that nightlife and the prevention of the spread of viruses can coexist with the proper measures in place. It’s about time that we start reopening an industry that has been closed or highly restricted for the past year, even with the economic shortfall the industry is facing, business owners and worker’s are determined to chip in for reopening to run as smoothly and as a safe as possible”.

Iván Brión, Global Operations Director of Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, equally hails the pilot as a first step towards the reopening of the sector. "We are very happy to be able to be a part of this test promoted by the Balearic Government and Ocio de Ibiza. We are confident that this trial will serve to reactivate the island's leisure sector. We have made a great effort to have everything ready for this date so that everyone who attends will have a great experience. This event is a tribute to the essential workers to whom we have a lot to thank and for this reason, we have chosen to celebrate one of the most loved events - Children of the 80's", explains Brión.

Children of the 80's is the brand that has revolutionized the music scene in Ibiza and Tenerife with its events full of nostalgia, retro fashion, old school music, and live performances by artists who are a symbol of the 80s era.

Since its birth in Ibiza in 2015 by The Night League, the event’s popularity has grown very quickly over the years and is now established as one of the best-known events on the island. Children of the 80’s offers an alternative musical experience that appeals to a range of audiences, thus uniting different generations in front of one stage. The daytime event goes on until midnight and is open-air, which are further characteristics that have made it so special and different.

Names such as Village People, Boney M, Ultra Naté, GALA, Samantha Fox, Sabrina Salerno, Sugar Hill Gang, Barbara Tucker, VengaBoys, Alice DJ, to name but a few artists, have already played on the stages of Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza and Tenerife in recent years. The headline artists are always accompanied by an army of dancers and performers that keep the audience entertained with every track played at each Children of the 80's event.

Quique Tejada, Toni Peret, and José María Castells, members of the DJ trio Dream Team Reload, as well as Petit & Vázquez, creators of the popular party La Movida Ibiza, and saxophonist Lugotti, will be in charge of revving up the audience with uplifting tracks. The special guest artist is a surprise and will be revealed in the days in the lead-up to the event.

 

The highly anticipated list of "The World's 100 Best Clubs"  will be announced once more by the International Nightlife Association during the 5th edition of the Golden Moon Awards Gala which will take place in Bogotá on November 13. This prestigious annual ranking is produced by combining 30% of the public votes and 70% of the professional jury, that is made up of 7 experts in the industry from different countries. The jury will take into consideration aspects such as DJ line-up, security measures, VIP services, possibility and ease of making online reservations, national or international awards received, acoustic quality, decoration, comfort, quality of service, soundproofing and commitment to the enviornment, among other aspects.  Besides releasing the list of "The World's 100 Best Clubs" 2019, at the same award ceremony the Golden Moon Award 2019 for Best Nightlife Business Group, Best Nightlife Executive, Best Action in Defense of Nightlife, Best in Technology and Nightlife and Best Awareness Raising Campaign will be given. Last but not least, the Golden Moon Award for "The World's Best Club 2019" will be also handed out. In last year's edition, also held in Bogotá, Hï Ibiza was proclaimed "The World's Best Club 2018". 
                                                                            
Previous to the Golden Moon Awards, for sixth consecutive edition, the International Nightlife Congress  will take place. Both events will be held together with the ExpoBar Fair, Colombia’s most important nightlife event.
